Beyond the Usual Toy Box: Creative Play Ideas for a 14-Month-Old?

Hey everyone, hoping I could tap into the collective wisdom here on a fun topic!

My little guy, Remington, is 14 months old and has officially entered the super-curious, into-everything stage. It’s amazing to watch, but I feel like he’s already getting a bit bored with his usual rotation of toys. As much as I love finding cool new gear, we’re trying to be mindful of our budget, so I’m on the hunt for more creative, low-cost ways to keep his little brain buzzing.

My best discovery so far has been creating a “treasure basket” filled with safe, everyday household objects. Think silicone whisks, wooden spoons, clean makeup brushes, and different textured fabrics. He will happily sit and explore it for ages! I got the initial idea from a child development blog and it’s been a total game-changer for us when I need to get dinner started.

I’d love to hear what’s working for you all! What are your go-to activities or DIY play ideas for this active, early-toddler age? Are there any specific types of toys you’ve found have real lasting power and are worth the investment? I’m all ears for any hacks that encourage independent play and motor skill development!
